MGMT 300x225 MGMT plan third album for June, promise more electronic soundIndie-pop dupo MGMT has completed the work on their third longplayer and plan the release of the new output for June 2013. Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden recorded the album themselves this time and not with a whole band like their 2010 sophomore album Congratulations which recieved mixed reviews. MGMT hint for a more electronic sound on the new longplayer since they already named APHEX TWIN as one of their influences. Looks like its getting even weirder with their sound as the band points out: “We’re not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it. There’s no illusion on their [Columbia Records, the label] part that we’re going to turn into a Top 40 band. That’s kind of comforting.” So, don’t expect another pop hit like Kids on this one. Until the most-likely self-titled album happens, we’re just enjoying a classic right here.
