A new remarkable voice arouses from the foggy depths of Seattle. BRIANA MARELA is born and raised in the famous capital of the state of Washington, simultaneously socialized by the density of the city and the vastness of the land and pacific ocean. So it does kind of feel naturally that BRIANA MARELA‘s upcoming JAGJAGUWAR debut All Around Us was recorded and mixed in Iceland by no one else but the SIGUR RÓS and JÓNSI-affiliated Alex Somers. What might strike some as contradictory is in fact the exciting core of her music: The girl from the city in the raw nowhere of nature. Her new single Take Care Of Me bears witness to that beautiful bridging.

Whereas the previously released Surrender marked the strong influence of Iceland, all with pluckering beats and angelic falsettos, Take Care Of Me is a far more reduced, direct and clear statement. Simple beats and vocals of childish naivete are elevated by meandering synths that seem respectively both soothing and menacing. BRIANA MARELA‘s debut record All Around Us is out August 21 via Jagjaguwar.
