The Fjords - All In - Video

Context?

A Norwegian band called THE FJORDS? Yes, that’s an almost too obvious choice for a name. But don’t expect melancholic folk music from these guys. The band from Trondheim rather delivers a catchy pop tune with one hell of an epic music video for their latest single All In.

Why Should I Watch This?

Because it’s pure enjoyment if you love retro video game and pop culture. We’ve got a young boy playing in his room with all sorts of toys from the good old 1980s. Gizmo from the Gremlins movies is involved, Star Wars obviously and of course you can’t do such a video without a proper E.T. cameo. And on top of it the young man brought his Nintendo Entertainment System as he is heading into the woods. Then the clip gets a slightly violent twist but thank god you can also use that NES as a proper weapon. ‘We made the video bonding over our shared nostalgic love for all things Eighties. It is where we spent our childhoods, and also formed the onset of the digital age,’ tells the band in a statement. Truly impressive video material

Anything Else?

But if you think THE FJORDS just did a pretentious retro-driven hipster video think again as there is more to this than meets the eye. They furthermore explain: ‘Thematically you have the smaller, personal story – which is the young kid dealing with his oppressors. On a larger scale, we wanted to shed light on the incredible speed of technological developments, both in online social networks, gaming, TV, etc, and our place in it, as humans.’ The band’s debut album will be released later in 2015.
