Melt! Festival 2013

MELT! FESTIVAL 2013 – It’s going to be colourful

Just one week until one of Europe’s greatest and most colourful festivals begins. This year’s MELT! FESTIVAL takes place from the 19th of July until the 21st and it’s going to be awesome and has now one of the best line ups for fans of indie music and electronica.

What started as a small insider’s tip with less than 3000 visitors attractd now music acts and people from all over the world. A nice feature of the MELT! FESTIVAL is its special location. The place that delivered tons of brown coal back in the days, locates nowadays the city made of iron called Ferropolis (Ferrum is Latin for Iron and Polis means city). The architecture of this city is built by a pool of the original bucket wheel excavators that make this place look like a lost mechanical wild west city. By day and for the rest of the year Ferropolis usually works as an outdoor museum that shows a true spot of industrial history, but once a year it becomes an electrifying, laser loaded and phenomenal party spot.

Year by year the festival has hosted more guests and even it was hard to beat their last years line up, they came up with the most famous main acts. It seemed like the aim was always to be bigger, broader and more exclusive as the other ones.

This year the Melt! Festival again comes with such big names like THOM YORKE’s supergroup ATOMS FOR PEACE, THE KNIFE, JAMES BLAKE, MOUNT KIMBIE, TRICKY, WOODKID and TRENTEMØLLER. But what makes all these music nerds’ hearts leap for joy and ours at NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION too?

Its these special acts that show that the booking still has a nose to assemle an extravagant and eclectic line up. From queer rap superstars MYKKI BLANCO and ZEBRA KATZ to electronic heroes MODESELEKTOR, APPARAT and the Kompakt label posse (MICHAEL MAYER and TOBIAS THOMAS) as well as bouncing beats from FLYING LOTUS and a classic DJ Set from mister JAMES MURPHY himself, they got everything. Special Scandinavian gems like the understatement disco sound of TODD TERJE (together with LINDSTRØM), the mysterious IAMAMIWHOAMI and some soulful tunes of RHYE.

The line up is huge, and for those who like to dance until the morning comes the Sleepless Floor gives exactly what they need. If you have seen the whole beauty of the unique visual work, projected all over the place, the whole night, you easily can take a bath in the big lake next to the festival area.

You can find the full line up and additional information at the MELT! FESTIVAL‘s website.
