With her charismatic and soulful voice and her ability to create charming and powerful songs Vanessa Brown aka V V BROWN clearly marks one of Britain’s most underrated talents: Last month she released her new album Samson & Delilah which introduced a few new electronic and dark aspects to her musical microcosm. And pretty soon she’s also on the road for a little tour, presented by NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION. And with these new tunes this might be an interesting experience. Here are the tourdates.

30.11.2013 – DE – Heidelberg – Karlstorbahnhof
03.12.2013 – DE – Köln – Studio 672
04.12.2013 – DE – Hamburg – Prinzenbar
05.12.2013 – DE – Berlin – Berghain

In the haze of the upcoming touring adventure we asked V V BROWN to present us seven of her most loved songs. Interested in the result? Here it comes.

01. KATE BUSH – “Running Up that Hill”

A strong women with a magical haunting strange vocal got me hooked. I love the way she danced and I copied her round my living room.

02. A TRIBE CALLED QUEST – “Can I Kick It?”

I had the tape. It was a single and I learnt all the words to try and impress a boy. It didn’t work but I fell in love with hip hop instead.

03. IGOR STRAVINSKY – “The Rite Of Spring”

I studied Russian nationalistic music and it opened my mind to the secrets of music in a very suppressed society. Stravinsky left secrets in his melodies.

04. FACTORY FLOOR – “Two Different Ways”

I fell in love with his band a few years ago. I love the way they use amazing visuals with there music and this inspired this new album in a huge way.

05. BJÖRK – “All is Full of Love”

This is my favourite song ever! Its radical and beautiful. Bjork is my biggest inspiration.

06. BROWNSTONE – If you love me”

I went through a massive 90’s RNB stage from 12-15 and this was one of those classics. The respect of the female soulful vocal.

07. NINA SIMONE – “Ain’t Got No…I’ve Got Life”
