About one year ago the Danish instrumental rock / post-rock band THE SHAKING SENSATIONS released a wonderful live video of their song The Obsidian Sea (from their debut album East Of Youth. Now, after almost one year of working hard on new material, they have finished their follow up which will be titled Start Stop Worrying. Already now NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION presents one out of the six new songs from the album.
The new record was recorded live in a studio in Copenhagen in late September 2012 and was mixed and produced by Matt Bayles in Seattle. Matt Bayles is known for his involvement and work with acts such as MASTODON, RUSSIAN CIRCLES and CASPIAN. Besides mixing and producing the new album, he also recorded pianos and synthesizers for some of THE SHAKING SENSATIONS‘ tracks, which have contributed with new and different musical directions.
The band itself states:
Even though that we as a band still locate ourselves within the genre mostly referred to as instrumental post-rock, we fell that we as persons have matured and have had the courage and engagement to be able to work in new directions and make decisions that may go against the typical principles and tendencies within the genre. We still compose songs that evolve and explode throughout 8-10 minutes, but we have also experimented with a more forward approach in our sound as well as in our compositions. Working with Matt has resulted in a depth in each track, which
we didn’t feel we managed to deliver on East of Youth. Our debut stood strongest as one piece of art where each track where glued together and contributed to a ‘whole’. On the new record we feel that each track is strong and easily can stand alone.
So far there is no release date for THE SHAKING SENSATIONS‘ upcoming album, however the band will tour Europe extensively in March and April 2013 (dates will be announced soon), including an appearance at this year’s edition of DUNK!Festival in Belgium.
