KASPER BJØRKE is an inspiring danish producer who’s been wandering around disco house and techno over his 10 years of presence in the scene. Last week, he released his new project, a mini album titled Fountain Of Youth out via the Hamburg-based label hfn music. His last projects include 2014’s After Forever for which he received enthusiastic support from the critics. We asked him to prepare a peaky selection for our summer hiatus and what summer meant to him. Here’s what he said to us:
Summertime equals holiday – and I always spend a few weeks in my girlfriends summerhouse in the countryside, recovering after the festival season. We often sit outside on the porch and listen to music coming from inside the house… not loud, just loud enough to hear it. The playlist is a bit of a mess really, as l like to listen to all kinds of genres – and as you can see it definitely reflects just that. It also spans over music from several decades and obviously I sneaked in a few of my own new tracks too. Hope you will enjoy it…
Despite his taste for electronic music and DJ sets, KASPER BJØRKE is attached to instill lyricism through songs structures – don’t hesitate to check our interview with him from two years ago. The summer playlist he prepared us is a good example of that. You’ll notice some recent releases – as RADIOHEAD‘s True Love Waits, COLDER‘s Market Day or WEVAL‘s The Battle – but also classics such as some MILES DAVIS. KASPER BJØRKE also proves himself to be a man of boldness as directly going from MASSIVE ATTACK to BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. Enough comments on that selection, turn up your speakers and let it invade your workspace or your house.
