Trans Musicales Festival 2013

Trans Musicales Festival 2013

This year NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION officially presents one of the most important festivals – or maybe even the most important festival – of France: the Trans Musicales Festival which will take place in Rennes from December 5th to December 7th. No doubt that this very special festival with about 30.000 visitors is a festival for visitors. But at the same time the French and international press as well as agencies, bookers and managements come together to find out about the hottest new artist and bands. Although Trans Musicales is no showcase festival, it is about new music. Within the past 35 years it evolved to a festival where the next big things can be found. And so acts like NIRVANA, JUSTICE, BJÖRK and a lot more played in Rennes when they were still pretty unknown, at the early stage of their career. And after playing Trans Musicales they had their break-through and made it huge.

“The force of the festival is based on one idea and not one kind of music.”
Béatrice Macé (founding member of Trans Musicales) in NBHAP Interview

Trans Musicales was launched in 1979 by Jean-Louis Brossard and Béatrice Macé and always has been the place to discover new music and unknown sounds from all over the world. NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION went to the French festival the first time last year to find out about the musical zeitgeist of 2012 (read the 2012 report here). While finding out about amazing acts like SKIP’N’DIE, TEAM GHOST, NICK WATERHOUSE, VITALIC and many more, we decided to name Trans Musicales as one of the thirteen best European Festivals and partner up with the festival for its 2013 edition.

“Music is there for giving soul, love and courage.”
Jean-Louis Brossard (founding member & art director of Trans Musicales) in NBHAP Interview

With an impressive history that goes back to the late 1970s, Trans Musicales always stayed to its idealistic ideas, even if it grew massively over the centuries. The main festival area isn’t in the inner city of Rennes anymore, but at the huge Expo area at the very south of the city. At the same time there are still many concert locations, as well as the conference center, in the inner city. During the same time Rennes has another festival: Les Bars En Trans, which takes place in the famous rue de la soif of Rennes. There even more bands and artists play in tiny bars. So everyone who is into music should definitely go and check out Rennes in early December. A lot concerts to experience in this wonderful city in the Brittany. The perfect place to find out about the musical zeitgeist of our time.

Shortly NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION shared a photo series about “Memories of Trans Musicales”. You should definitely make sure to check this out. You’ll be impressed. Promised!

But what can we expect from Trans Musicales 2013 in terms of the musical line-up? To make the long story short: nothing but the best! Besides amazingly hyped artists like LONDON GRAMMAR, FYFE, DAUGHN GIBSON, MIKHAEL PASKALEV and MOZES & THE FIRST BORN, there will be a lot to discover. From garage to indie rock, from pop to electronic, from world music to hip hop. Whatever you like: you’ll get the hottest stuff in Rennes soon. Are you ready? Then get your tickets here.
