A band from Lucerne, Switerland, that captures the atmosphere of the North. And they capture it as if they would have never been to another place than the very North. But what does the North sound like? For a lot of people SIGUR RÓS are the incarnation of Nordic sound, with their huge soundscapes they build up a dreamy atmosphere that seems to stop time. And with the stopping of time there comes a certain melancholy. These two things might be what characterize the Nordic sound: melancholy and the feeling of timelessness.
It is the thunder, the lightning and the storm that might be scaring for most people, but still there ever has been a fascination for it. A fascination for the powerful nature that surrounds us. And nature is timeless – and melancholic, at least in the North. KAPNORTH take these topics and set them to music.
KAPNORTH went hunting in 2008. While stalking for deer the four-piece stepped in the trails of respectable huntsmen. They kept following these tracks. Their mission was as clear as gelid water. The proudest animal, the most dangerous character and the most beautiful antlers served as targets. After long years of studies and the experience they won out of it, KAPNORTH adjusted their notch and bead sighter. Aimed on the complete and mystic creature of their own perception.
Located and with pride hunted down in the endless range of Iceland. Refined with a fresh marine breeze from Reykjavik. Arranged with laments of trolls and elfins and swallowed up on the rise of a growling volcano. This dish is a luscious feast. Delicate thundering, piquant lightning and selected stormy.
That’s the story of KAPNORTH, a band that is nor only into nature, but also in art – and of course music. A band that found the essence of nature’s beautiful art and packed it into twelve songs. These twelve songs now make Thunder Lightning Storm, a debut album that couldn’t be stronger by a band that perfectly manages to make the time stop.
