These might not be exactly THE best twenty audiovisualizations of the year but it’s definitely material you shoud not miss. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes more obscure. Funny, sensual, haunting, arty and impressive – this is the first part of our little recap. Did we miss anything essential? Then feel free to leave a comment or two.
BRASSTRONAUT – Mean Sun
The shivery psychedelic ambience of the song already creates on its own teams up with a – on the first sight – romantic but bizarre love triangle. Well, and this is just the first impression.
STREAK AND THE RAVEN – Speed Of Light
The every day life of an ordinary girl gets a sudden twist once a green laser enters it.
KORALLREVEN – Sa Sa Samoa
With it’s massively by the Samoan islands influenced album you’d expect a more sunnier video from the Swedish dreampoppets – but sometimes dreaming of this paradiese can be as fascinating as visiting it.
SSION – Earthquake
We’re not even trying to explain or analyze what we’ve seing here. It’s arty and stylish weiderness at it’s best that doesn’t need any more description.
DIE ANTWOORD – Baby’s On Fire
Basicly every video clip of the South African pop extremists is a fantastic piece of abtsract wicked audiovisual overkill which makes it even harder to decide for just one. Our tip: watch all, start with this one
KINDNESS – House
Early education in creating a pop hit – with your personal instructor Adam Brainbridge. A video clip not only quite likeable but also quite informative. Beware of the huge charm overload.
ROUGH DAYS FOR DIAMOND TRADE – Troubled Mind
Perfect example of how a haunting stong works just well with the pure power of impressive images.
THE SEA AND CAKE – Harps
Best Friends are the most important ones – especially when you share precious memories with them. Although this clip follows the whole Instagram/vintage hype its charm and tenderness is just disarming.
JUSTICE – New Lands
Well, and despite what we wrote earlier – sometimes a big budget does actually count. This masterpiece by the French electro superstars is pure megalomaniac blockbuster material that’s just to overdosed to not be loved.
SPIRITUALIZED – Hey Jane
This ten minute ride through an – somehow – ordinary day of a hard-working american drag queen/ father is a little movie that just leaves you breathless in the end, especially in combination with its driven music.
