A sad day for all fans of American progressive rock institution THE MARS VOLTA. It looks like Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López have parted ways since Bixzer-Zavala said in a couple of tweets how unsatisfied he is with his current state in the group. Bixzer-Zavala in a tweet: “I can’t sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of THE MARS VOLTA. Sadly It’s Over”. It also looks like the musician was quite unhappy that the group didn’t tour last year’s longplayer Noctourniquet more, probably due to Rodriguez-López constant preference in rather recording albums than performing them live. THE MARS VOLTA were one of the most criticly acclaimed groups of the past decade and they’ll be surely missed.
