After first introducing you to Icelandic two-piece BSÍ last summer though their wonderful single Manama we’re happy to now have Silla Thorarensen (drums & vocals) and Julius Pollux Rothlaender (bass guitar & toe-synths) back with more new music and the announcement of their debut album. The album which is set to arrive on May 21 goes by the way too awesome title Sometimes Depressed … But Always Antifascist and that sums up the duality of the record’s concept pretty well. One side (Sometimes Depressed) showcases the tender and melanchloic side of the BSÍ sound while the other side (Always Antifascist) is dedicated to furious and raw lo-rock energy. The track we’re showcasing here – 25Lue – obviously belongs to the first part here but you can also check out Dónakallalagið to get a better impression of the second side. It’s interesting how these two approach their multiple musical personalities. 25Lue is a wonderful little daydream and the music video which features scene from the iconic 1989 anime Kiki’s Delivery Service by Hayao Miyazak really underlines the escapism vibe of it, don’t you agree?
