You grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden, as the daughter of a Finnish mother and and English father, you are influenced by three countries and cultures – in how far did this influence you?
My parents have both had a big influence on me in many ways… They’ve been concistent and caring, I inherited my interest for music from both of them!
Your first single, “Finders Keepers”, was released in June last year. We are sure that you were super excited, weren’t you? Well, how was it like when you heard your song in the radio or saw the music video in TV for the first time? What thoughts crossed your mind?
Those things are both one of those “I gotta pinch myself-moments.” It’s hard to describe actually but I guess you can get used to everything eventually ;)
The song “Finders Keepers” deals with breaking-up, lovesickness and girl’s stuff. We heard that you are back together with the particular guy. What did he say about the song? Was he upset?
No he wasn’t, at least he didn’t say he was… I think he knows he deserved it..! But he’s a great guy. In fact he thinks it’s a good song.
You wrote your debut single and two other songs with your friend Victor. We assume that he plays a great role in your life, is that right?
He definitely does… I would say he is one of my best friends, and we write all my music together.
Do you remember the first time you performed “Finders Keepers” at a stage? What went through your mind?
Yes! I do remember… It was in Gothenburg last summer at a club called Kontiki… The place was packed with family and friends and other people. I wasn’t that nervous but I guess I was just hoping that people would like it and not Boo me off the stage ;)
What are your inspirations for writing lyrics and making music? Are there any things or persons in your life that inspire you in a special way? Your Facebook page says that you like BON IVER and QUEEN – in how far do you find inspiration in this music / these guys?
Inspiration can be found everywhere… I’d have a hard time explaining exactly from where it comes… But yes, there are certain people that inspire me, also situations in life and instrumental music!
Is there a special message you want to tell with your songs?
My songs are all special to me, and they all have their own little story. I really hope that people will like them, but above all I hope that they will be able to relate to the lyrics in their own way, and hopefully project it onto their own lives.
Some people compare your voice with ADELE’s. In your opinion: a blessing or a curse?
Neither nor… But if I’m gonna be compared to someone it might as well be someone talented, am I right? :) ADELE has a stunning voice.
You have an aerophobia, right? Is there anything you can do about it, since you will be travelling a lot in the future with your up-coming success?
I just flew from Stockholm to Zurich and from Zurich to Hamburg yesterday, and on the later flight I felt a little bit less scared, even tho I was panicking inside… But at least I didn’t cry like a baby the whole trip (as I did on the first flight from Stockholm) So I guess it’s just a matter of trying to get used to it..!
What are your plans for the future? New projects and tours planned? Maybe an album in sight?
I have a lot of plans and dreams… I’ll be doing a little tour in Germany in May, and I have my album coming up in late spring/early summer. Im really looking forward to it!
Last one: What do “hope” and “passion” mean to you?
A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous.. (thats from the hunger games haha) I believe it’s important to keep your feet on the ground, and for that, you need a perfect mixture of hope, passion and a sense of reality.
