Hailing from the region of Mälaren lake in Sweden, SONGS FOR THE SLEEPWALKERS is the “nom de disque” behind italian expatriate and roadrunner Andrea Caccese, who now lives in Västerås, Sweden. His music fits somewhere in between postrock and folk, fueled by an eclectic, yet essentialist attitude.

As his main influences Anndrea Caccese names acts like THIS WILL DESTROY YOU, BON IVER, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, SIGUR RÓS and a lot more. In fact none of these acts is from Italy, maybe this made him emigrate to Sweden. But why Sweden? And why Västerås? Västerås is a small city located at the shore of Lake Mälaren. The perfect place to write and record and debut-album like Out Rehearsed Spontaneous Reactions.

The album is a reflection of ever-changing landscapes sculpted by the northern seasons: from the sparkling and vibrant summer days to the still, frozen winter nights – passing through a carpet of yellow and orange fallen leaves along the way.
This is an intimate, candle-lit record who’s strength is in the haunting simplicity of the songs and, in some cases,  even their floating incompleteness.

Acoustic guitars and vocals are arguably at the core of the album, but electric guitars, cello, drums and percussions appear frequently, helping push the sound in different directions, song after song, even daring incursions into electronic music.

You can listen to SONGS FOR THE SLEEPWALKERS’ debut album, Our Rehearsed Spontaneous Reactions, here. Since this is a debut-album that completly blew us away, it is now our album of the week.

Our Rehearsed Spontaneous Reactions is for free download (or pay what you want), so go and tell all your friends to check out SONGS FOR THE SLEEPWALKERS. And just to let you know: these songs are also for people who never sleepwalked.
