And So I Watch You From Afar – All Hail Bright Futures

Irelands’ finest postrockers from AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR came out with a new album last week. It’s called All Hail Bright Futures and is the third full-lengths release of the band. And – to my apology – I almost overlooked that tiny little masterpiece over the daily haze and everything. But it’s a record that forces you to take some time of from the every day races, slow down the pace and experience the brillancy of its sounds and atmosphere. And it’s never too late for such a step whether you experienced it already on the record’s release day or a bit later like myself. You will be rewarded, that much is for sure. It took a while – one and a half year – since they released their second album Gangs which totally stuck in my heart ever since the first listen.

So expactations where high for All Hail Bright Futures! But in my opinion it’s a great masterpiece and another proof for the group’s talent. It has the heavyness for that I love the band but brings in some lightness that I do love even more in the context of this longplayer. They made up twelve songs which unite postrock, math and even jazz with some light ambient parts. There is just so much to discover in here, too much to mention. I’m running out of words already.

So, to cut a long story short – thanks for that piece of art, AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR, I am excited about what you’ll bring up next. For so long I will listen to All Hail Bright Futures … and you can do the same right here. So, leave the world outside and enjoy it with me.
