Wrong Lyric Facts: When Artists Mess Up Lyrics

by

Kanye West - Wrong Lyric FactsMusic is the only thing on planet earth everyone understands, the language of the world with babylonian dimension. At the same moment, music is telling stories, makes us sporty by dancing, makes us feeling sad, crazy, in love, depressed or endlessly happy, and music is educating us.

But what happens if the artist is messing up with the lyrics? NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION did some research and honestly recommends to not always believe everything that is sung. Some musicians just need private lessons in history, physics or general education. Find a selection of songs with wrong lyric facts on the following pages.

Wrong Lyrics by PITBULL

Now watch him make a movie like Albert Hitchcock.

Song: I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) (2009)
Album: Rebelution

Okay, we don’t wanna joke about the artist’s name. Sure, everyone knows there is a breed of dog called Pitbull and there might be people who say the human one and the doggy one are looking quite similar. But there’s one thing the human US artist Armando Christian Pérez aka PITBULL has the edge over the animal, writing lyrics!

Music and lyrics in general are always a matter of taste, but what exactly was PITTBULL thinking when he wrote the song I Know You Want Me?

Apparently right that! Seems like the animalistic instinct was controlling him. It’s a rough guess but it feels like 80% of the lyrics consist of the sentence ‘I know you want me’, which is once in a while mixed with a nugget of Spanish and a gap in education: ‘Now watch him make a movie like Albert Hitchcock.’

Umm, don’t you mean Alfred Hitchcock, dear PITBULL?

Wrong Lyrics by KANYE WEST

I was In Too Deep like Mekhi Phife

Song: I Don’t Like Remix (2012)
Album: Cruel Summer

Once there was a small and very young bad boy from Chicago who listed up things he didn’t like, turned it into a rap song and became famous. His name is Keith Cozart, better known as Chief Keef, who was dropped out of high school at age 15. Apparently he was quite bored while he stood under house arrest for an unlawful use of a weapon and became very productive. His songs Bang, 3Hanna and I don’t like were the road to success. And right here is KANYE WEST come into play, who gets interested into Chief Keef’s I don’t like. WEST created a remix with Chief Keef, Pusha T, Jadakiss and Big Sean. Embarrassingly WEST totally messed up his part by singing ‘I was In Too Deep like Mekhi Phife’. KANYE, not Mekhi Phife starred in the 1999 movie ‘In too Deep’ it was Omar Epps!

Wrong Lyrics by CHAMILLIONAIRE

Always been about them horizontal lines through them ‘S‘ s/ That’s a dollar sign.

Song: Still Tippin (Original Version) (2004)
Album: The Day After Hell Broke Loose

On his official homepage CHAMILLIONAIRE tells: ‘I won’t do anything just for a dollar. Money will make people do crazy things and I’m not one of those people.’ We believe him, although his name sounds like a lot of cash. But in fact he didn’t even know how money looks like. You can find the evidence in his song Still Tippin, where he sings: ‘Always been about them horizontal lines through them ‘S‘ s/ That’s a dollar sign.’

Sorry CHAMILLIONARE, horizontal and vertical are two completly different things. Are you paying with a different currency, which look like this: S?

Wrong Lyrics by OJ DA JUICEMAN

Moving in a Grand Prix, same color as thunder

Song: I’m Getting Money (2009)
Album: The Otha Side of the Trap

When Otis Williams Jr. got his first job at Orange Julius, he discovered his passion for rhymes, probably because he was bored. If he’s really that talented as he thought, is another question, but thanks to that fruit drink store he got his pseudonym, OJ DA JUICEMAN. It seems to be that he didn’t either got that much general education at his juice bar-work. Probably that’s the reason why he messed up the line in I’m Getting Money: ‘Moving in a Grand Prix, same color as thunder’

Sorry Dude, a thunder makes a Sound, while a lightning could maybe have the same colour as a Grand Prix.

Wrong Lyrics by Jay-Z

38 revolve like the sun round the earth

Song: It’s Hot (1999)
Album: Vol. 3…Life and Times of S. Carter

Jay-Z, we know you are one of the world’s best selling artist of all time (until now), Co-Owner of a Club, Co-Creator of the fashion label Rocawear, married to BEYONCÉ, it’s a never ending list, you are great! But even for you it’s unimpossible to re-route the order of the universe! Seriously, we hope your children didn’t inherit the same jay-z-centric ehhm geocentric view of the world like you.

Not the sun round the earth, it’s the opposite: the earth round the sun.

Wrong Lyrics by PRINCE

This is what it sounds like when doves cry’

Song: When Doves Cry
Album: Purple Rain

We don’t wanna be nit-pick but doves aren’t able to cry due to emotional upset. Certainly it was just a metaphor. As everybody knows, doves are standing for peace (although almost everyone is complaining about the rats of the air, at the latest if their trash hides them). In When Doves Cry PRINCE has some trouble with his girl. That means the peace & love, which exist before is now gone, according to this the doves are crying. Even if it’s not possible under the law of nature, sorry to destroy your romanticize image of doves, but they are just able to use tears to clear debris from their eyes. That’s nature!

Wrong Lyrics by FLEETWOOD MAC

Thunder only happens when it’s raining

Song: Dreams
Album: Rumours

Thunder only happens when it’s lightning! As a result of the natural law thunder & lightning are addicted to each other and normally appears as a couple, while both of them don’t need rain to happen. As you maybe know, thunder is a sound, produced by lightning.

Wrong Lyrics by U2

Early morning, April 4. Shot rings out in the Memphis sky

Song: Pride (In the Name of Love)
Album: The unforgettable Fire

As famous artist you should be aware of, that people actually listen to your songs and sometimes learning from them. So next time if you wanna sing about an historic event, check your information. Sorry Bono, you messed up your part. Martin Luther King Jr. wasn’t shot early in the morning, April 4. He was shot in the evening.
