On Wednesday, May 22, BOARDS OF CANADA projected a video onto a big screen in Shibuya, Japan. On Thursday they premiered a new track entitled Reach for the Dead with a visual supplement. One day later their label Warp Records tweeted a backwards version of the song and its video. On Sunday, May 26, the experimenters appeared at Detroit’s Movement Electronic Music Festival just before SQUAREPUSHER took to the stage, to unveil a new song entitled Cold Earth with associated pink visuals. And on the same day they tweeted a message that was as simple as it was obscure: “May 27th 12:00 PDT”. After long guesswork it could be found out that there was a listening party for the new album which took place at Lake Dolores Waterpark in Southern California: The band tweeted a warped advertisement for the waterpark and a user of USTREAM hosted a stream from the event.
