Who is it?

It’s Maja Barløse, a New York-based Danish singer-songwriter who operates under the name FJER. She released EPs in 2013 and 2014, and has been putting out singles consistently since then (we featured her guest spot on a METSÄ track last year). Her new song is called Wrong Time.

Why should you listen to it?

Wrong Time is pop music written on an epic scale. A lot of that is down to Barløse’s voice, distinctive, cut crystal clear and powerful, it gives the track a sense of grandeur that most electro-pop can’t reach, as she laments a relationship gone wrong. Then there’s the musical side of things: Wrong Time hits hard, with beats that are loaded with whallop and force. Pair that power and emotional weight together, and you’ve got a track you can’t ignore. FJER has succeeded in making a dramatically compelling pop song.

What’s next?

A debut full-length is due out at some point this year.
