Who is it?

Indie rock outfit FORMER FACES, from Los Angeles, fronted by Multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Ryan Parmenter. He is supported onstage by David Lee (guitar), Brian Blake (bass), and Abraham Kim (drums) in creating a sound that honours the retrospective touch of bands like TAME IMPALA and ARCADE FIRE while at the same time being grounded in the sonic environment of modern (electronic) productions.

Why should you listen to it?

Dreamy, atmospheric and moody are the first words that come to mind listening to No Good Reason. The spheric vocals of Ryan Parmenter tell ‘the story of a computer waiting in vein for its owner to come home’ amidst a soundscape of earthy, subdued drums and bass, acoustic guitar strums, subtle touches of piano and occasional ambient noises. As the computer, however, ‘watches as throngs of strangers seeking shelter from the rain streak past its window’, heavily distorted electric and bubbling synthesizers establish a level of urgency that conflicts with the otherwise calm and tempered environment of the track.
