Sometimes you only understand a band to its full extend when attending their live performances. GIANT ROOKS, whose debut song Småland was exclusively featured earlier on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION, played a triumphant one-off gig at Cologne Music Week on Saturday, 23 in Cologne. The live voice of singer Frederik is exceptionally clear, emotional, and intense. The band plays their instruments professionally well. However, there is no moment of routine in their performance. Watching Frederik jumping around on stage or observing the shy smiles of the other band members make you realise that the band clearly loves playing in front of an audience that is constantly growing by now.
Therefore, it is no surprise that, for a second release off of their debut EP The Times are Bursting the Lines, GIANT ROOKS share a live session video clip of the song Chapels. Chapels shows some progress in terms of the band’s song writing abilities. The new song is nothing less than a playful, piano-led pop song that, besides having a strong melody, includes vocals of all band members, handclaps and a nice introduction of reduced guitar play.
Giant Rook’s debut EP The Times are Bursting the Lines, featuring the singles Småland, Chapels, and two additional tracks, is out now and can be ordered via the band’s mail and Facebook accounts.
