It looks like the long awaited third album by popular songwriter JAMES BLAKE is only a few months away. As the musician told Miami New Times in a new interview the album is ‘seventy percent done’ and set for a release ‘in about five months.’ In the past months BLAKE already shared a few new songs like Building It Still or 200 Press although it is unclear if they’ll be part of the follow-up to 2012’s Overgrown.
The musician also shed some light on the rumoured collaboration with rap superstar KANYE WEST. He reveals: ‘We haven’t done a great deal of work in the same room yet, but we’ve done a few things, kind of helped each other with our own music. In terms of the actual collaboration for this record, it looks like we should be able to get something done. I know that there’s a specific song I would like him to be on, and if he can do that by the time my record comes out, that would be fantastic.’
Another already confirmed collaborator for the record is BON IVER‘s Justin Vernon as well as a yet unnamed third one he’s ‘really excited about.’ He also states: ‘A lot of things have changed in my life since the last record, and overall for the better, so I’m in a good place, I think. I’m in a good place to write in general, and I have been for quite a while.’ Fans can expect first new music by JAMES BLAKE on his forthcoming US tour.
