English folk pop musician LAURA MARLING will release her fourth studio album Once I Was An Eagle on May 27 via Virgin Records in the U.K., and May 28 via Ribbon Music in the U.S.. The young lady is one of the main figures of London’s nu-folk scene next to MUMFORD & SONS (she was in a relationship with lead vocalist Marcus Mumford) and NOAH AND THE WHALE (she belonged to the original lineup).
Reportedly the new album ‘echoes the dark themes’ of 2011′s highly acclaimed A Creature I Don’t Know which brought a Brit Award as Best Female Solo Artist and a NME Award as Best Solo Artist. The new 16 tracks were recorded with Marling’s regular producer, Ethan Johns, who already produced albums of KINGS OF LEON, RYAN ADAMS and RUFUS WAINWRIGHT.
