Following the Christmas single from two weeks ago and the live comeback in the course of Coachella performance, James Murphy has now officially confirmed the return of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM. And it goes even further – the band is back for good, featuring a new studio album for a release later in 2016 as a full tour. It will be the band’s first release and tour since they originally split back in 2010.

In a big blog post Murphy now addresses the whole comeback, the reason behind it and also explains what made him re-think the whole comeback idea more than once. He writes:

in my naiveté i hadn’t seen one thing coming: there are people who don’t hate us at all, in fact who feel very attached to the band, and have put a lot of themselves into their care of us, who feel betrayed by us coming back and playing. who had traveled for or tried to go to the MSG show, and who found it to be an important moment for them, which now to them feels cheapened. i just hadn’t considered that.
