It’s beach versus mountains in the new Beirut clip ‘Perth’

Celebrating the power of dance and nature in different settings.

Songwriter Zach Condon and his band BEIRUT came up with a really sweet idea for their latest music video Perth. Directed by Clara Aranovich the split-screen-based clip was filmed in both – Yosemite and Santa Monica and features dancer/choreographer Maceo Paisley as he dances along the tune in quite opposing sceneries. Aranovich explains the idea in the press release:

‘There’s something in the rhythm and sound of ‘Perth’ that immediately conjures images in my mind of funk-era dance; I knew I wanted to throw back to that period. Nature is a somewhat like a church to me—a place of reverence that is deeply democratic in that it belongs to both everyone and no one. These places are as beautiful as they are a neutral canvas, as real as they are surreal.’
