It’s always a pleasure to see different generations of artists joining forces to create something truly creative and inspiring. And this combination really is quite a special one. The buzzing three-piece from Edinburgh – YOUNG FATHERS – reworked a track by The Modfather himself, the almighty PAUL WELLER. The legendary British artist is about to release his 12th solo album Saturns Pattern on May the 18th – and he just got confirmed as ‘support act’ for THE WHO at Glastonbury Festival. Not bad for a man who celebrates his 57th birthday later this month, right?
YOUNG FATHERS, who just released their highly recommendable new LP White Men Are Black Men Too reworked the album’s title track in a very brave way. They even got The Leith Congregational Choir on board, which already helped out on a couple of songs from their latest album. Haunting, slightly trippy but also very uplifting in the end. And WELLER‘s voice really fits quite well into this rework. That’s how you should do a proper remix, don’t you agree? Don’t forget to read our recent interview feature with the band, grab yourself a copy of the new PAUL WELLER album next week and enjoy the exclusive premiere of this special tune right now on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION.
