Although charismatic THE NATIONAL lead singer Matthew Berninger recently announced his new side project EL VY he still got the focus on his main band. In a new interview with the NME Mr. Berninger gave an update on the follow-up to 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me. He explains: ‘We did a camp-out retreat in New York a couple of months ago, and we’re having another one in LA in a few weeks. We have 30 sketches of songs so far.’ Berninger also revealed that band member Aaron Dessner introduced the habit to name the tracks after towns in upstate New York. ‘Before, he’s named them after things like civil wars. All the songs that turned into ‘Trouble Will Find Me’ were named after children of our friends,’ reveals the singer.
The new album by THE NATIONAL is planned for a release in 2016. In the meantime, Return To The Moon, the collaborative album between Berninger and Brent Knopf of MENOMENA and RAMONA FALLS, is scheduled for a release on October the 3oth.
