The shortlist for the VIA! VUT Indie Awards 2015 is complete. Eighteen artists, labels and experiments are shortlisted for this year’s edition. VIA! cooperates with the Rocco Clein Preis for music journalism.
VIA! is Germany’s most important award for the independent music industry. On September 24th, during the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, the best newcomer, act, album, label, and experiment will be awarded. Over the last years the award ceremony was held during the Berlin Music Week, which stopped in 2014. So it’s time for a new chapter in the VIA! history: Reeperbahn. As always the award ceremony will be followed up by a big get together of people from the German music industry.
The eighteen artists, labels and experiments were chosen out of 393 nominees. The VIA! is the first and only award that is not about commercial success, but about ‘quality of novelty’. You might remember a few of the artists from our list of recommendable German-singing bands. Besides the VUT Indie Award, the Indieaxt (indie axe) will be awarded for extraordinary achievements in the independent music industry. Also the celebration of the Rocco Clein Preis for music journalism will be held during the event.
