Back to the Shack is the first single from WEEZER‘s forthcoming album Everything Will Be Alright in the End, to be released on September 30 via Republic.

The song, laden with self-referential lyrics, points a grateful nod toward the band’s loyal following. ‘Sorry guys/ I didn’t realise that I needed you so much’, croons Rivers Cuomo. Produced by THE CARS’ singer Ric Ocasek, Back to the Shack is a nostalgia-inducing trip to the first time these guys collaborated, on WEEZER‘s 1994 Blue Album.

‘If you took the Pinkerton band and then play all the other records—that’s what we sound like now,’ explains drummer Pat Wilson. ‘Bombastic, loose, kind of booming. This record sounds like it’s going to have the tight structure of Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton.’ You can listen to the new single right here.
