Lust For Youth

Yes, sometimes we can’t get enough of the good old 80s vibe. Just remember NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION‘s just released list about pop musical highlights from the year 1984. And it’s always welcome when a contemporary band recalls the aesthetics and sound of this golden era for pop music while mixing it with a fresh sound. Hannes Norrvide might agree with us on this point.

The mastermind of Danish wave pop band LUST FOR YOUTH sat down to list seven songs for us by people and artists he really adores. So expect music from the heart in this selection. His band just released a new album called International. And it does not only represent the shift from a former solo project to a full band but also their love for fancy synthpop.

Get ready to experience what music inspired LUST FOR YOUTH over the past years. The following pages include seven little gems which are worth to be discovered by you.

01. Sand Circles – ‘Continuity’

Mr. Herterich has a really pair of nice nice sneakers. He is also a old friend of mine, but unfortunatly I dont see him that often cuz he lives in Stockhom, which is like 6 hours by train from Copenhagen. But thank god I have this compilation LP with this track on that I can listen to everytime I miss him.

02. Shiny Darkly – ‘Sacred Floor’

The singer, Kristoffer is the sweetest guy I ever met, Im happy and proud to call him my friend. This song is taken from their LP “Little Earth”, and is one of the best song I have heard this year.

03. Quiltland – ‘Forever’

Frida-Li is amazing, we toured together last summer and she played killer sets every evening. We went to a bone church and took photos for instagram. I miss her.

04. CANCER – ‘Same Color As Digital Photography’

If I could bring one thing (or actually a person)  to a deserted island it would be Nikolaj Vonsild. He has this great aura around him, you dont have to talk to him or know him but as long as he is in the same room as you everything is feeling great. I can’t wait to get this LP.

05. ANTWON – ‘In Dark Denim’

Last time I was in Los Angeles I saw Antwon play. I haven’t seen him perform since last year, he is just getting better and better. I don’t dare to think of what he will come up with next. I love him.

06. YEN TOWERS – ‘Commerse’

One of the best new Copenhagen projects. I really look forward to hear more from this.

07. DIRTY BEACHERS – ‘Coast To Coast’

Before I knew Alex I was obsessed with his first tape, and especially this song. Much has changed from the first recordings but I still find this song to be one of his best ones.
