Ever wondered what an Adele song would sound like without those always way too over-the-top vocal performance? Forever Goodbye by Billie Flynn might provide the answer. It’s a more subtle approach to Easy On Me, if you like to put it that way. A tender song about heartbreak and the end of a relationship, filled with undeniable pop sensibility yet emotionally raw and tender. Built on the foundation of a playful piano and the tender vocal performance by the wonderful new talent from the Cornish coast one of the song’s greatest achievements is that it gives the song’s emotional message all the space it needs to flow into the stratosphere. The atmopsheric music video really helps to underline the vibe here.
The song is the closing track of Flynn‘s freshly released debut EP Hey Stranger. You might remember that we already told you about its marvellous title-track before so let us make clear that the rest of the release is equally good and quite an exclamation mark from the young songstress. According to Billie Flynn the entire EP works as sort of cathartic release, showcasing songs and reflections that were written to heal old bruises and help her reach grief’s final stage – acceptance. It’s quite a mature and impressive first release and we really hope that this one will leave a mark with you. It surely did with us.
Exclusively for us, Billie Flynn also recorded this sweet reduced version of the song.
