Sound of the Night: Andrew Bird & Matt Berninger – ‘A Lyke Wake Dirge’

Tonight’s ‘Sound of the Night’ on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION is an epic and majestic piece of dark neo-folk, featuring two well-knon protagonists. ANDREW BIRD and THE NATIONAL lead singer Matt Berninger joint forces for their version of an old English folk song called A Lyke Wake Dirge.

The occasion for this wonderful collaboration comes in form of praised American TV drama Turn. The series, starring Jamie Bell, is set during the Revolutionary War in America around 1776/77 which helps explaining the choice of this special song.
