Just before the year is about to end the world of music lost another talented member as musician Benjamin Curtis, mostly known as one half of SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS, lost his long lasting battle against cancer. Curtis was only 35 years old. His diagnosis was announced back in February 2013, resulting in a massive support by befriended musicians like INTERPOL‘s Paul Banks, ACTIVE CHILD, M83 and others. But all the support couldn’t stop the aggressive form of lymphoblastic lymphoma. Back in August this year Curtis still was optimistic as he stated: “In the meantime, please know that life is amazing, and I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. You are all beautiful. You are all loved.”
He formed SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS together with sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza in 2007, their latest album Ghostory was released in 2012. He also was member of popular experimental rock band THE SECRET MACHINES. His management set up a special e-mail address for any condolence (sviib@wizkidmanagement.com). He will be remembered by this passionate character and mostly his music. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone who was close to Benjamin Curtis. May he rest in peace.
