Video Of The Day: Grounders – ‘Secret Friend’

Let’s get a bit woozy for the weekend, right?

Grounders - Secret Friend - Video

Context?

The pyschedelic pop/rock movement is happening all over the place. TAME IMPALA, TEMPLES, ARIEL PINK – wherever you look: it’s all about fuzzy guitars, blurred colours and reverbed vocals. And if you’re a fan of this musical territory you’ll definitely fall for these guys from Canada. GROUNDERS is their name and Secret Friend is taken off their debut album which goes by the same name as the group and was released via Nevado Records.

Why Should I Watch This?

Because that’s the sort of film you want to watch when a sunny weekend is approaching. Friday afternoon material at its best. Smooth retro-driven vibes with a relaxed atmosphere and sunshine-spirit. And, of course, if you got a song like Secret Friend you need the stereotypical animated clip to accompany your psychedelic vibes. And this one got them all. Dancing people, people who are working out, people in everyday situations – and all in pretty much every colour you can imagine.

Anything Else?

The music video as unsurprisingly inspired by THE BEATLESYellow Submarine movie. And we could totally see that GROUNDERS track showing up in our Friday playlist, immediately after Lucy In The Sky With Diamons.
