After recently premiering StarWaves, a first track from his upcoming Oblivion movie score, Anthony Gonzalez and his project M83 are now giving us more material from the release. Oblivion is a new sci-fi blockbuster by Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, staring Tom Cruise. Gonzalez composed the score together with composer Joseph Trapanese who already worked with DAFT PUNK on the score for exactly this movie. The musician on his work: “Scoring the film was a true enjoyment. It involved lots of stress, lots of sweat, and lots of hard work, but in the end, the soundtrack serves the movie very well. It really is a great Hollywood soundtrack. ‘Oblivion’ is a big film with a big sound and a big orchestra, and while the soundtrack is different from my original idea, in the end I am very proud of it. I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this journey.”
The score for Oblivion will be released on April the 9th, today M83 presents us the title track – a collaboration with beloved Scandinavian singer SUSANNE SUNDFØR. And what can we say – this is really out of this earth! Listen to the epic piece below.
