Streaming service TIDAL officially launched

After busy teasing in the course of the past hours JAY Z‘s new streaming service TIDAL is officially launched. According to the press release it’s the first ever streaming service owned by the artists. On a big press conference earlier this evening plenty of artists like ARCADE FIRE, COLDPLAY‘s Chris Martin, JACK WHITE, KANYE WEST, DAFT PUNK, MADONNA and many others announced what the press statement claims to be ‘a commitment to a new direction for the music industry from both a creative and business perspective.’

The service itself offers lossless CD-quality audio and video. Currently around 25 Million songs and 75.000 music videos are available to watch. According to TIDAL there will be no free or an ad-supported plan. You can get your monthly subscriptions for $19.95 when it comes to high quality streaming. The standard quality cost $9.95. Time will tell if the new service will provide real competition to Spotify and Co. and will be the form of ‘revolution’ it claims to be. Find out more about it on the homepage and see a star-packed trailer right here.
