Daily Tune: Get a full overdose of 80s nostalgia with ‘Bad Dream Baby’ by September 87

It’s too charming to be labled a parody.

Who is it?

Meet Australian budddies James Ballard and Will Ewing whose band SEPTEMBER 87 might be the most non-subtle 80s retro pop band you experienced in a while. These gentlemen surely share an unconditional love for the golden days of high gloss synthwave pop and their latest video Bad Dream Baby is an impressive testament of that. Don’t read any further if you can’t stand the 80s. You’ve been warned.

Why should you watch it?

I don’t even know where to start. There’s so much happening here. Let’s begin with the charming sci-fi-setting, move over to the band’s great fashion choices and end with the fact that there’s a robot playing a saxophone solo. I mean, come on? There’s also shiney studio impressions and a respectable guitar solo performed in front of a space panorama. Critics might say it’s almost too close to a parody but on the other hand it’s joyful bliss to watch these two young gentleman doing this sort of sound with such an amount of honesty.

What’s next?

Probably the conquest of space. Or quite possibly more pop madness since you can’t do wrong with a proper 80s revival anyway, right? SEPTEMBER 87, we’re watching your journey through the stars!
