British indie pop trio FRIENDLY FIRES returns with the first material in over two years. The band shared their new collaborative single with producer duo THE ASPHODELLS. On March 31 the double-single Before Your Eyes/Vevo is set for a release via FRIENDLY FIRES‘ own label Telophase. The last thing we heard from the group was their very own Late Night Tales compilation back in 2012. Their last studio album, Pala, was released back in 2011. They are currently working on the follow up.
THE ASPHODELLS are well known electronic producers Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J Fairplay. Back in 2013 both bands met in a pub to discuss the idea of a future collaboration. And such places are usually perfect for being creative. Both bands wanted to create music that doesn’t sound like their previous releases. According to the press release it was ‘a loose, open-ended process embarked upon for the pure joy of experimentation and collaboration rather than a specific end goal.’ The result is quite tropical and psychedelic Listen to Before Your Eyes right now.
