When the clouds hang that low as they do today when we look outside our office windows, a track like this fascinating rework of GRASSCUT‘s piece Islander really helpy us to carry on. None other than beloved songwriter and musician FINK is responsible for the seven-minute long ambient dream NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION is happy to premiere today. The original can be found on Everyone Was A Bird, the critically acclaimed third album by electronica duo GRASSCUT which was released last year.
Now, the band is preparing a remixed version of the album where befriended colleagues and musicians gave the music of Everyone Was A Bird their own twist. It’s about highlighting individual elements of the original tracks as well as opening up new vistas and providing us with a fresh perspectives of these songs. FINK is one of the participants in this project and the band’s Andrew Phillips is very happy with the result:
‘Fink did this mix of Islander while looking at an abandoned ice factory in East Berlin. He’s really got inside the guts of the song, and taken them down into the depths. You could lose yourself in that bass.
You can pre-order the album here (Europe) and here (North America). And now, without further ado, please enjoy this ghostly piece of cinematic sweetness right here.
