Well, that’s a cover version we surely didn’t expect. Swedish dreampop duo KORALLREVEN covered the almighty GUNS’N’ROSES evergreen November Rain and gave it their very own spin. The duo about its quite interesting choice: ‘Our new album Second Comin’ is filled with glowing trance-like solos and glittering arpeggios. Most of which were inspired by – and an attempt to ultra-modernize – Yngwie Malmsteen‘s Paganini-like arpeggios from hell and Slash’s guitar solos in November Rain. The latter was a favorite track of ours back then, and it has followed us through life ever since. So, it made sense for us to cover it. Like it was written in the stars.’
Unfortunately but not unsurprising – there’s no epic guitar solo involved in the dreampop update by KORALLREVEN. At least not in the epic form of Slash. Earlier this month Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder released their sophomore longplayer Second Comin’. Listen to November Rain right here.
