Let’s give your Tuesday a techno-like Twist, shall we? For over 15 years Frankfurt-based producer MATTHIAS VOGT has established himself as a prominent name in the European house scene. His fanbase includes such high-profile figutes like DIXON, TENSNAKE or the almighty PETE TONG. This week he’s releasing his latest single Matters via Anjunadee, the acclaimed house label imprint of trance heavyweights ABOVE & BEYOND.
Matters features German singer Phil Fill as guest vocalist and his participation really helps to give the minimalistic electronic piece a soulful human element as he almost channels the almighty JAMIE LIDELL. VOGT explains the collaboration in the following words:
‘Matters’ is a collaboration with singer and songwriter Phil Fill from Darmstadt, Germany. We’ve been friends for a while, he’s a super talented guy. A few years ago we recorded together for the Frankfurt based Carry On imprint under my Motorcitysoul alias. When I was working on this new material for Anjunadeep I thought it would be a great idea to work with Phil again, so we met at his studio – I laid down some chords (he’s got some nice keyboards at his place!) and he improvised some lyrics, and slowly ‘Matters’ came together.
It’s a song about the important things in a person’s life. I decided to keep the production simple and stripped-back, and just add some subtle FX here and there. There’s even some beatbox from Phil in it! I think the result is a very catchy tune, and every element in it matters. Enjoy!’
