Now, that’s a voice we truly missed. ROÍSÍN MURPHY is finally back. Although the former MOLOKO singer was never entirely gone the forthcoming album Hairless Toys is her first proper studio album in seven long years. The record will be out on 11 May via Play It Again Sam and it is supposed to feature every music influence from electronic music to country and jazz. You can stream a first track called Gone Fishing right here.
Okay, we literally stopped counting how many videos ASBJØRN has released over the past year. Must have been around eight by now, still teasing his forthcoming second album Pseudo Visions (no release date yet). Well, if there’s still something left to tease. Now comes another one in the form of Scandinavian Love. According to the Dane the song ‘is about being a teenager and having all these butterflies in your tummy when doing things for the first time.’ So, get ready to fall in love with the new tune right here.
The CRYSTAL CASTLES are history, unfortunately but charismatic lead singer Alice Glass is willing to carry on in the near future. The singer just talked to i-D for the first time since her departure and promised a solo album for later in 2014. It will sound ‘like a kitten eating their hoarding owners after they die,’ Glass explains. And she is heading for even darker territory as she continues: ‘I’ve always connected more with aggressive, darker music and that’s what I want to create. I don’t have to answer to anyone and I can take my time. Even if only a handful of people want to come to my shows it’s better than living a lie playing stadiums.’ We’ll keep you updated on her plans.
HISSER is the name of the new band by DISCO ENSEMBLE frontman Miikka Koivisto. And since the band just got announced for the forthcoming Ja Ja Ja event in Berlin on March the 12th, it makes sense to also unleash a new single. It’s called Alienhood and it’s quite a catchy piece of electropop with a lovely early 90s breakbeat foundation. A really catchy tune, we must say. Listen to it right here.
Behold, MODEST MOUSE lovers. The long awaited new album Strangers To Ourselves is close and set for a release on March the 17th. And for those who can’t wait any longer the band now revealed another teaser from the record. Stream the new piece The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box right here.
Yesterday, Melbourne-based synthpop band MIAMI HORROR announced its long awaited second album All Possible Futures and today they are already sharing a new single off it. Love Like Mine, a collaboration with Cleopold is just pure feel-good material. We now seriously can’t wait for summer to start. Listen to it right here via Stereogum.
As you should know by now William Doyle and his alter ego EAST INDIA YOUTH will release their anticipated second album Culture Of Volume on April the 7th. We already heard the wonderful Carousel and now comes a second teaser in form of Turn Away. It’s way more pop-based than the track before but still spreads the magic we are used from Doyle. Convince yourself right here.
Oh, and one final funny thing at the end. ARCADE FIRE mastermind Win Butler really created a BECK/ KANYE WEST Mash-Up. Did we need that? Not really. Is it good? Surprisingly yes. Butler mixed the iconic Loser with WEST‘s Jesus Walks under his moniker DJ Windows 98. A nice little tribute that might end the old Grammy debate. Listen to the result right here.
