A good day for all fans of Thrash Metal gods SLAYER. The legendary band unveiled a new song today which goes by the name Implode. It’s the first new music in five years and also a first teaser off the band’s new album. The yet nameless follow-up to 2009’s World Painted Blood will be released later in 2014. It follows a turbulent time for the band. 2013 saw the departure of Dave Lombardo and also the death of founding member Jeff Hanneman.

For the first time in twenty years a SLAYER record will not be released via Rick Rubin’s label American Recordings but via Nuclear Blast. Bassist Tom Araya on that decision: ‘Rick has played a huge role in our career, we’ve made some great albums with him. But today is a new day, record companies don’t play the kind of role they once did, and we really like the idea of going out on our own, connecting directly with our fans, and Nuclear Blast is fired up about taking on that challenge with us.’
