New York based artist Ari Russo aka RUSSO will release his debut EP Wild Lights on June 9th via Valcrond Video, the label of audio-visual artist Luke Wyatt, aka TORN HAWK. An immersive EP of lush soundscapes, tangible textures and a sophisticated rhythmic approach. A great mix of dub and footwork.
RUSSO engages with abandoned media in video works he calls ‘OfficeFern’. He’s also a programmer and has created synth generation tools such as the Diamond Arpeggiator as well as audio-visual software (he’s designing the video art for TORN HAWK’s upcoming shows). His debut EP ”Wild Metals’ evokes black plastic electronics overgrown with ferns and orchids. The breed of black plastic that RUSSO and WYATT both found sinisterly inserted into the grid of their childhood. It provided the skin for some of their favorite toys, and its general resonance was aligned with the fast cars, women, architecture that dominated their imaginations.’
