We had the pleasure of crossing paths with Sweden’s VITA BERGEN a few times over the past years. The collective around masterminds William Hellström and Robert Jallinder knows a thing or two about how to write powerful indie/electronic pop anthems that sometimes feel like the lovechild of ARCADE FIRE and M83. The group is currently working on a new studio album and today, NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION is premiering not one but two tracks from it.
The new songs J and On the Run are also part of a brand new Tour EP VITA BERGEN are bringing along on their upcoming German dates in early January (dates can be found below). Here’s what the band has to say about the new release:
We’re very excited to visit Germany again this January. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
We’re also happy to announce that we’re releasing a new album during the first half of 2017. It will in some ways be similar to our last album Disconnection, but you could say that it looks at similar experiences from a different angle.
The songs have been written in a relatively short time span which makes it feel like it represents a specific chapter of our lives, from the period since we released Disconnection and up until now. The Disconnection period was all about disconnecting ourselves from our previous lives. When we started the band, it quickly became a vehicle for change. We wanted to change drastically, and we did. But a while back we began to feel like we had started to lose aspects of ourselves that we missed.
The theme of the new album is about going back to find those aspects – to bring back to life aspects of the personality that we’ve left behind somewhere along the way. We have tried to become more human, if that makes sense.
Regarding the track J: it is about my (William’s) girlfriend who is a Swedish Neon artist. We wrote it together Robert and I!
Writing the album has been a very positive experience for us. We’ve become something other than what we were before. We wrote the most part of it during our touring in Europe this year and finished it up during some weeks in Los Angeles this autumn.
Hope you like it!

If that alone doesn’t trigger anything we’re also happy to give away tickets for all dates. Just send us a mail with your full name, the subject ‘Vita Bergen’ and the city of your choice. Good luck and have a lot of fun with these new tunes.
