There was quite some online hysteria surrounding ZHU when he released his house mash up of OUTKAST entitled Moves Like Ms. Jackson, and then again when he dropped his own track, Superfriends. Thing was, back then no one knew who the creator behind these two delicious tracks was. Hiding your identity as a musician very much seems to be the thing to do these days. ZHU explains his actions: ‘Many are wondering why I chose to release my music anonymously. I am my own ghostwriter. As a society, we become more attached to the creator than to the creation. Music is faceless. My music is for a new generation—one in which people appreciate art for its intrinsic value.’
The Internet has since found out that his name is Steven Zhu and he’s a producer and singer from L.A. The tracks he’s producing are a sensual mix of genres- house, hip-hop and trap. This brand new video for Faded lends itself perfectly for late night mischief.
