It’s totally fine iif mysterious songwriter and producer GEISTHA didn’t show up on your musical radar yet but we’re also pretty sure that this is about to change soon, following the concumption of this music video. Floods is a stunning audiovisual ride that might start like a tender an more delicate affair but quickly builds up to a massive finale you didn’t see coming but that feels quite consequent in the end. It’s the latest installment of the artist’s D’ARK single series that saw him releasing a handful of similar songs over the course of the past months.
‘Floods was my way of exploring what can be done within the scope of my music’, GEISTHA describes his latest single. He continues: ‘In theend, I just really wanted to keep a very high intensity, no matter if the track was quiet, gentle or forceful at that particular moment. It is all about a distinct atmosphere, which is first lyrically and the later musically established.’ And in many way the music video, directed by Paul Ambrusch of Final Chapter, underlines the intention of the music. If features dancer David Lukas Hemm performing an incredible choreography in a nightly church, surrounded by shimmering and vibrating lights. The result also impressed the musician as he confesses:
‘When David started to dance on the day of the shoot, it literally took my breath away. Every motion added meaning to every word, to every note. His dance created a whole new narrative within my music. It was definitely a very intense and moving experience for me as an artist.’
Hemm’s intention was to dance like someone who stays focused and calm when the sea gets rough and cold and judging from the video you are about to watch that definitely worked out. If you love cinematic synthpop that crawls under your skin this one might just be the right tune for you.
