It’s astonishing enough that the history of Scraps of Tape already dates back to the year 2000. It’s even more impressive how the Swedes managed to always act on their own terms. They never forced a career. Yet, looking back at it, somehow achieved it as a side product of their dedication. I recommend to check my interview with the guys from 2014 as well if you want to know more.
Now they report back with a new label at hand. The Will To Burn is the title of their Denovali Records debut, out at the end of February. As always, it shall be an album opening up a new chapter in Scraps of Tape‘s evolution. As long time followers of these guys, we were eager to get an early glimpse of where they would end up next and therefore are glad to premiere the new track Silent Wave for you today.
It’s a rather straight-and-to-the-point affair for a Scraps of Tape-song. But it contains all the ups and downs that formed their distinct sound from the early post rock days on. Bleak fuzz and light melody go hand in hand on this one, blending into some proper single material. Here’s how the group describes the song:
‘Silent Wave’ is about that look you give yourself in the mirror one day, unexpectedly, that somehow opens your eyes and changes everything. It’s about waking up and taking the first steps towards something better.
Check for yourself and remember to catch these guys live, because that’s still where they’re at their best.
