AUSTRA‘s Habitat-EP delivers a suped-up version of the song Habitat followed by three songs of what are essentially electronic jam sessions with hardly any vocals. They hint at the inner workings of the band’s process, allowing fans to examine the soundscapey zombie-esque sorts of sketches that might hatch the most interesting musical elements of the band’s instrumental work.
All in all, nothing joltingly new here, the mini-album is more of the same from AUSTRA – which is just fine since ‘the same’ really is pretty great.
