Cats, cats, cats.
Cats rule the internet. Full stop. There’s Grumpy Cat, Venus – the Two Faced Kitten, Banye – the OMG Cat, Keyboard Cat… The list goes on and on. I mean they’re the ultimate celebrities. It’s less drama and more about being so utterly adorable you-simply-can’t-even-deal-with-life-at-that-moment. Each one is blessed with their own amazing personality and creative minds. And sometimes this comes out in the form of music. LIL BUB is one of those musically gifted cats. NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION already prepped you all for this moment but here it is: With a little help from her friends, this extraordinary kitten has created her first debut album, Science & Magic.
Really? A cat made an album?
Is it too much? Let’s just break it down. ANDREW W.K, a close friend of the cat and fellow musician swears the cat has made the album. Of course not physically made the LP – but she has used her genius mind and encapturing aura to inspire her owner Mike and her bubbysitter Matt, to write and put together her musical vision that is inside of her. This clearly being a magical universe. The 10-track album is a collection of songs that transport you to a whole other cosmos. Just listen to the song New Gravity. The music is something along the lines of old school electronic beats meets weird synth mix meets a galaxy of opportunities. It’s playful, the track Good Job has you covered in that department, but also thoughtful like with Rebirth. Basically the album is like a trip to someplace where things don’t need explaining and music does all the talking.
And the verdict is…
But in all seriousness, it’s a good album packed with some tune that definitely stick. However, apart from the occasional meowing on tracks like Hello Earth and Space Sister, it does miss the direct link to a cat album. Still, LIL BUB is a very special cat and you can tell that this album has been made with love. I mean, just look at her face, get to know her story – then listen to the music and you’ll understand. You will. And if that doesn’t convince you, then maybe some more words from ANDREW W.K will:
‘She came from the deep unknown, on an intergalactic mission to help the people and animals of earth with her magic, talents, and otherworldly wisdom.
The songs on this album are the soundtrack to BUB’s universal adventure, and a soundtrack to the universe itself. You’ll feel transported by the music’s stimulating spirit, and taken to places beyond your imagination’s limits, all the while experiencing the sonic aura of BUB’s loving and compassionate presence.
If it weren’t for BUB, this music would not exist.’
Awww! Plus one quarter of the album’s net profits shall be going to the LIL BUB‘s Big Fund she has at the ASPCA that supports special needs pets just like her.
Maybe more of an album for real Lil BUB fans, it’s still fun to listen to – even if you’re just curious as to what music plays inside of a cats head.
