German composer ULRICH SCHNAUSS releases his fifth LP this friday, titled No Further Ahead Than Today. The man himself is not a stranger to the worlds of electronics as he already provided plenty of stunning official remixes for acts like DEPECHE MODE, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, SIA or the PET SHOP BOYS. Over two decades into the game, he clearly managed to create a unique position in the world of electronic music; one that is truly hard to classify. Electronic shoegaze? IDM? Cinematic synthpop? Well, we leave it up to you on how to label it.

No Further Ahead Than Today is the latest step of his journey and it’s an aerial adventure within its minimal influences. NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION invited him for a special Guestmix, which in the end follows a similar direction. Some tracks are ambient, others are in the vein of Steve Reich, when it’s not coated by tenders rythms. The artist – who is also part of the current TANGERINE DREAM line-up – explains the character of his compilation in the following words:

This mix is called ‘retrotronics’ – it’s collection of some of my favourite, but slightly more obscure traditional EM pieces.

Fans of diverse electronica should really follow ULRICH SCHNAUSS on his journey right here.
